Healthy living classes are an important way to help promote an overall balance of body, mind and spirit.  They can help to enhance the quality of life and health of those affected by cancer, contributing to the healing process.  We provide a range of classes including aerobics, strength training, yoga, tai ji, pilates, and aquatics.  Our classes are free to cancer survivors and their caregivers.  There is a $5 drop-in fee for the general public to attend each class.  We do not require an RSVP.  Participants should plan to arrive 5-10 minutes before the start time of the class.

Living Strong:

This gentle strength training class is designed for before, during, and after cancer treatment. Benefits include increased muscle mass, strength, flexibility, and endurance. Participants also experience increased self-esteem, a sense of control, and an improved quality of sleep. Perhaps the greatest benefit is the ability to combat fatigue- a side effect that often interferes the most with daily life and cherished activities. There are different levels available to suit all mobility and strength levels and no previous strength training experience is needed. This class is led by Beth Stauffer on Fridays at 9am at UnityPoint Health – Methodist’s Wellness Center located in the Atrium Building.  Participants should plan to arrive 5-10 minutes before the start time of the class.
