Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis. QPR is a suicide prevention skills training program that teaches three simple steps that anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide… question, persuade and refer. Once someone is educated on how to question an individual about these warning signs, they are empowered to listen and persuade the individual to accept support. The QPR trained person can then refer the individual for professional help.
QPR can be learned in as little as one hour and is taught for various groups and community organizations (church, school, community, etc.) Individuals interested may call the Hult Center at 309-692-6650 and inquire about the next class offering, based on demand.
